Apple has made another advancement to add a little more technological spice to our lives.

In January 2011, the company released the Apple App Store, where users can easily access anything from games, sports, and travel applications.

Within the first day of release, over one million users downloaded the App Store, according to the Apple website. The App Store can be used on the MAC OS X and iOS operating system.

Instead of going to Apple.com, Mac users now have the App Store icon on their desktop docks. This new and improved app lets users choose from 21 different categories and either purchase apps or download them for free.

For those who aren't looking to spend a lot of money, there is a wide variety of free apps. There is something that will interest almost any user. If Mac owners already have an Apple ID from iTunes, they can use this existing account to access the Store.

The layout of the App Store is straightforward so new users will find it easy to navigate. It also allows the user to easily see the top paid apps, top free apps, staff favorites, what's hot, new and noteworthy and the top grossing apps, along with reviews of each app.

When the download of an app is complete, it automatically shows up on your dock. This is a handy tool, especially if you plan on using it right after the download is complete.

People who have the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch will be familiar with the App Store because it is similar to the one available for those devices.

Just like with iTunes, the Store does require personal information' an e-mail address, billing and credit card information are all required. If you don't plan on buying any apps and will only download the free ones, a credit card is optional.

Prices for paid apps range anywhere from 99 cents to $100. Some of the top paid apps include Aperture, Angry Birds, iPhoto, iMove and Call of Duty 4.

There are no real flaws in the new and improved store. Its design and ease of use lives up to Apple standards. From old Mac users to newbies, anyone can take advantage of this advancement.
