If you're a music lover and will be in or around Connecticut this summer, then mark your calendar for B.O.M.B. (Bring Our Music Back) Fest 2010.
Taking place at the historic Durham Fairgrounds on Sunday, May 30, it’s the perfect way to kick-off your summer.
If you're sticking around the Quinnipiac area for a summer course, fear not, the venue is less than half an hour from Hamden.
The festival begins at 10:30 a.m. with bands jamming by noon, rain or shine. Bringing together the best of “indie rock, psychedelic gospel, alternative hip-hop and reggae jam,” according to the event’s website the line-up is both impressive and eclectic.
Headlining are indie darlings Of Montreal, Lupe Fiasco, Girl Talk, 30 Seconds to Mar and many more. Twenty up and coming regional acts will also be featured, offering 10 hours of music with a nice mixture of the mainstream acts and those diamonds still in the rough. Arts and crafts, picnic style food concessions and carousel rides will round out the day of fun.
The event was the brainchild of Connecticut music guru Frankie Bombaci and is being produced by Bring Our Music Back, Inc., a non-profit organization “dedicated to the enrichment of life and healing through music.”
Over 70 percent of net proceeds raised from the concert will be donated to select national and local charities. This year’s beneficiaries include The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, CT Children's Medical Center, YPI (a children's residential arts camp for artistic enrichment), as well as various musical scholarships, artistic mentorships and high school music programs.
Tickets are $50 if you buy them in advance and $60 at the door. A VIP Pass will set you back $125 but gets you a parking pass, hospitality tent viewing, bathroom line-cuts, food, beverages and ultra-exclusive photo ops. Parking is $5 and shuttle buses will run continuously between Strickland Farm and B.O.M.B Fest from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
