“Entourage” Season 4
One of the most popular shows on HBO has found its way into my DVD player with no intention of leaving. “Entourage” follows movie star Vince and his close posse of friends (and brother) as he makes his way through Hollywood with agent, Ari, by his side. While the show is already in its 6th season, a viewer can easily begin watching the show at any point. “Entourage” is humorous, serious and extremely well written.
“Definitely, Maybe”
The perfect romantic comedy for your repertoire, this movie stars Ryan Reynolds, the adorable Abigail Breslin and a host of award-winning actresses. The movie follows Will (Reynolds) as a dad telling his young daughter about three women he had dated before her birth. The story is both funny and emotional, touching your heart in all the right places.
“Law and Order: SVU” Season 5
While every season of “SVU” has graced my DVD player at some point or another, season five is currently in the rotation. The season continues to follow detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) as the hard-hitting crime detectives. “SVU” serves thrills and chills in every minute. Some episodes in this season deal with heavier situations than in past years. Like “Entourage,” “SVU” is one of those shows you can pick up at almost any point—the detectives stay the same, but the cases are ever changing.
“8 Mile”
Though a little dated, “8 Mile” is one of those movies that should be watched every few years. Eminem and the late Brittany Murphy star in this movie from 2002. Eminem plays Jimmy Smith, a character almost identical to the real-life rapper with just a few exceptions and Murphy plays Alex, Jimmy’s love interest. This movie is sad at times and proves that life is hard.
“The Office”
To counteract the drama of the other shows and movies on this list, “The Office” provides much needed laughs. The interviews of the employees at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company could not be funnier. Coming up with random problems and amusing plots against each other, these workers seem far from normal. “The Office” seems to have an employee of every working sect—the kind secretary, competitive seller and the worker that does absolutely nothing. The show also features office relationships, boring meetings and work-related problems. It’s almost impossible not to think about how fun it would be to work in an office like this one, but then again, would you be able to stand obnoxious boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) the whole time?
