Student run radio station WQAQ is kicking off the school year with an in-studio interview with epic-pop band Elsinore. The interview will take place from 4 to 5 p.m., and then the band, along with Salivating Eyes and Speak in Verse, will perform at 7 p.m. at The Space in Hamden.

"Elsinore actually contacted the radio station hoping to schedule something, since they're playing a show later that night at The Space," Jess Kenney, the WQAQ promotions and public relations manager, said. "They sent us a promotional download of the band's album, and I thought they would be a great band to book for an interview. We're all about promoting lesser-known bands, and especially promoting their shows at The Space. We love that place."

Elsinore hails from Champaign, Ill. and is currently on tour to promote its latest album "Yes Yes Yes" which was released Aug. 10. Most often compared to indie bands Death Cab for Cutie and Arcade Fire, Elsinore creates a catchy dream pop sound that is sure to remain stuck in one's head for quite some time.

Kenney, a senior, hopes to have in-studio band appearances, like the one they are doing with Elsinore, on a regular basis in order to promote WQAQ and college-friendly bands.

"So far, the bands we've booked for in-studio sessions, interviews, and performances are Elsinore, Allister, and Cassino," Kenney said. "We're working on getting Los Campesinos! in the studio as well, and we're not anywhere near done booking our in-studios."

Students can listen to the live interview on 98.1 FM or on WQAQ's website.

Elsinore will be discussing their new album and will also be answering questions posted on the Facebook event page created for the interview.

According to Kenney, WQAQ is open to suggestions on which bands to bring into the studio. Students can check out WQAQ's website for information on in-studio appearances.
