It was once said that if you love something let it free and if it comes back it was meant to be. If not, well it just might not be your day.  But fear not because if that special someone doesn’t come back, you will always have your one true love.  She comes around twice a year [three if you enjoy basketball or hockey]. The relationship will have ups, downs, turmoil and even heartbreak.  But in the end she always comes back.

That lovely lady is fantasy sports.

Slightly overshadowed by the announcement of an Anchorman sequel being put into the works, Tips From The Hood is back with its second live draft edition.

This season The Quad News sports writers had a little fun along with the editor-in-chief and started a league of their own and no, Tom Hanks was not involved.

For this live draft analysis of the first three rounds, I possessed the last pick in odd rounds and the first pick in even rounds.  One hint of advice, don’t draft a closer that is out for the season already.

The first round is always the easiest and unless there is an injury to a star player, it is very difficult to mess this one up.

Best Pick:  Robinson Cano, NYY-2B- In a league of very few second baseman for fantasy options, Cano is a star still emerging in the always-dangerous Yankee lineup.  Cano batted .302 with a resounding 118 RBI’s.

Worst Pick:  Unlike second base, the shortstop position is surprisingly deep this season.  While Tulowitzki is a big-time player by seasons end he will not be a top-ten player.

Round 2

1.

Jacoby Ellsbury (Bos - OF)

Hood

2.

Justin Upton (Ari - OF)

Team Seven

3.

Justin Verlander (Det - SP)

Team Six

4.

Roy Halladay (Phi - SP)

Team Five

5.

Joey Votto (Cin - 1B)
